JIMI KISS THE SKY

The best we could offer as a memorial to Jimi Hendrix, revered the world over for his contribution to rock music, was a rock.  In the zoo.  Thankfully, that’s changed with the unveiling of an impressive mural by Dan and Mae Hitchcock, located on the wall above the previous site of Myers Music, where Al Hendrix bought Jimi his first guitar.  A typo in a Hendrix bio had the Hitchcock’s trying to find 1206 S. 1st Ave.; the real location is right downtown.  Al Hendrix attended the mural’s unveiling last month.  (He had tears in his eyes, said Dan) and a plaque is also set for installation.  You can also look for future works from the Hitchcock's:  The wall is our gallery – the outdoor gallery.  And the city is our studio.”
